As of June 30, 2005, all individuals working in a child care
facility with a Florida CDAE or National CDA must complete the renewal
process every 5 years to maintain an active credential.

answer questions about state-mandated training,
educational exemptions, and requirements for staff
credential verification, Child Development Associate
Equivalency (CDAE), and Director Credential.
To update your Child Care
Training Transcript with certificates earned prior to
January 1, 2004, mail a copy of your certificate with
your social security number or Student ID to:

Training: Emergent Literacy Course for VPK Instructors
Florida's Voluntary
Prekindergarten legislation required the development of
performance standards in the following areas of child
development:

Knowledge

The Language and Communication was revised and
Emergent Literacy was added to the standards. Training
in the standards will be offered by the Department of
Education and the VPK Regional Facilitators. For
additional information, please visit the Office of Early

The goal of the five-hour Emergent Literacy
Course for VPK Instructors is to provide participants with
background information on emergent literacy skills and give
exceptional instructional practices that may be used in the
VPK classroom.
This self-paced program is available in either
instructional manual/DVD format, or as on online course.
It is comprised of:

interactive learning activities

video demonstrations of lessons by Florida
VPK instructors

techniques for implementing research-based
instructional practices
-
competency based assessments
The five components in the Emergent Literacy
for VPK Instructors course are as follows:
This training is designed to follow the
initial training on the new Prekindergarten Standards.

"Emergent
Literacy for VPK Instructors"
Online Training is Now Available |

"Emergent Literacy for VPK
Instructors" is an online course now available. All
child care personnel may use this course for in-service
credit. This 5-clock-hour course is designed to
familiarize instructors with strategies and techniques
to address the age-appropriate progress of
prekindergarten students in developing emergent literacy

Training courses." This course is free of charge. |

The Child Care Association
of Brevard County, Inc. (CCA), no longer issues certificates
for completed
Department of Children and Families (DCF) State-Mandated Child
Care Training Modules. Training participants must visit the
DCF training website at
www.myflorida.com/childcare/training,
or contact CCTIC by phone or email as listed above.
To
view transcripts click on "View My Transcript",
follow the instructions and you may download a copy of either
your certificate or a "Training Transcript". If you
have any questions please contact the CCA training department

Method of Registration:

a “First Come, First Serve Basis”.
The first 35 paid participants will be enrolled in the course.

Center Mandated Training
All center child care staff are mandated to take
40 hours of training. The 40-hour courses consist of the following
classes:
*20 hr. Introduction to Child Care
*10 hr. Behavioral Observation
and Screening
*10 hr. (Choose one of the following)
1. Preschool Appropriate
Practices (3-5)
2. Infant/Toddler Appropriate Practices (0-3)
3. School Age Appropriate
Practices (5-12)
4. Special Needs Appropriate Practices

Click on "Training Coordinating Agencies/Training
Schedule"
2. Click on "blue area" for Brevard, Seminole, Orange & Osceola
3.
Click on "Training Schedule" which is located
at the bottom of the page under Community Coordinated Care
for Children's address.
4. Find the class you want; select "Register"
5. Find your "Social Security number" (no hyphens)
and your "Last Name"; click "Search)
6. Click "Search"
7. Enter personal information or correct
any information already in the system.
8. Click on "submit" at
the bottom of the page
9. Confirm information displayed; if incorrect,
click "Schedule" at
the bottom of screen to select another class. If correct continue
to "Print"
10. Click on "print" at the bottom
of the page
11. Click on "continue print) on the top of the
page
12. Click on "Schedule" to select additional classes
13.
When you have completed your registration, click on "log-out"
14.
Make a copy of your registration and send or bring it along with
your fees to the following address within 5 business
days:

If payment is not received within this time, your
registration will be removed from the roster.

receive a full refund. There will be NO REFUNDS after 10
days before class starts date.
