You may register online
for all State Mandated Training classes through the Department of Children
and Families at: www.myflorida.com/childcare/training.
When registering for state mandated classes at our office you
will be registering online. Fees may not be paid online. You must come
in and pay for the class or mail in your fee to 18 Harrison St.,
Cocoa, FL 32922. Checks or money orders must be made out to Child
Care Association. You are NOT enrolled and may NOT attend class
if fee is NOT paid.

30-HOUR FACILITY CHILD CARE COURSE -
SOUTH BREVARD
The 30-hour Facility Child Care Course is mandated for
persons seeking to operate a licensed child care
facility.

Part I: 30-Hour Course – Introduction to Child Care $15.00

State-Mandated 3-Hour Family Child Care Module
The 3-Hour Fundamental Child
Care Course is designed to give an overview of caring for children in a
home care setting. Any person providing informal
child care services for a family must take this course. It is also required
for emergency substitutes for all family child care homes, registered
or licensed.
The informal provider is someone who provides care for children
from one family who is not registered or licensed but who is exempted from
the requirements. The emergency substitute must have this course before
beginning occasional substituting in the family child care home. If substituting
exceeds 40 hours per month, the 30-hour Family Child Care must be taken
instead. See schedule below.

40-HOUR CHILD CARE COURSE
The 40-hour Child Care Course is a requirement divided into two
parts:
-
Part I is comprised of 30-hours of training on
Introductory Child Care. Fee: $45.00
-
Individual modules from the 30-hour class are
offered separately for $30.00 each.

Part IIA consists of 10 hours of training on
Behavioral Observation. Fee: $30.00
-
Part IIB consists of 10 hours of specialized
training on one of the following modules: 1) Infant
and Toddler Appropriate Practice; 2) Preschool Appropriate
Practice; 3) School-Age Appropriate Practice; or 4) Special
Needs Appropriate Practice. Fee: $30.00
Child Care personnel hired on or after October 1,
1992, must successfully complete Part I and Part II of the
Department of Children and Family's 40-hour Child Care Training
Course. Completion of the 40-hour training requirement is
evidenced by passage of a competency examination with a score of
70 or better.
