Collaborative Efforts Making Big Differences

Neighborhood Social Services Center...
All year 'round, tea is served and rocking chairs creak at the  Child Care Association's Neighborhood Social Services Center, 128 Lemon Street in Cocoa. This special place has become a community meeting place, where old meets new and ideas flourish. The center provides a myriad of services to residents of all ages, including Child Care Resource and Referral, eligibility determination for early childhood programs, parent/child resources, provider training, health screenings, nutrition demonstrations, parent training, family support - and daily tea!

Brevard Volunteers Make a Difference...
Creating an awareness of children's needs brought an outpouring of volunteer caring and commitment to the Child Care Association. This year we spent time training our staff in better use of volunteer and community resources, bringing support from more than 1,500 people or organizations.

Part of giving every child an equal chance at school success is healthcare. Last year the Child Care Association worked with Parrish Medical Center Auxilians, Wuesthoff Wellness Clinic personnel, Holmes Regional Medical Center (HOPE), Brevard Dental Society/Patrick Air Force Base, and family and community educators, members and other citizens who care. Together we completed 806 vision screenings, 801 hearing screenings and 1,345 dental exams - twice as many as last year. Thanks to our partners, there was no cost to parents.

Special Needs...
Finding special services for children who need them is vital to helping them reach the top. Using our 26 single-entry sites as screening centers, the Child Care Association combined efforts with Circles of Care, Child Find, Devereux, HOPE Center and the Brevard County School Board.  Thanks to this group, 175 children received evaluations for cognitive, motor, language and social skills, the help they needed - and a head start on life.

Harry T. Moore Child Development Center...
Truly a collaborative effort of love, the Harry T. Moore Center opened last year at 307 Blake Avenue, Cocoa as a full-service community child development center, housing three classes and 32 children. The volunteers and the surrounding community worked countless hours and offered financial support needed to furnish this extraordinary facility.
