How Can I Help?
There are several ways you can help the Child Care
Association help Brevard's children. You can apply as a
volunteer or donate items from our wish list.
Volunteer!
Lending your time and talent can bring great rewards in personal
satisfaction, polishing job skills, or finding new career
directions. The Child Care Association of Brevard County,
Inc., has a place for you. The private, non-profit agency
administers Head Start and Early Head Start early childhood
education programs throughout the county.
Office and Finance Assistants: Are you detail-oriented? Like
numbers? Help in our Finance Department in Cocoa. Volunteers
with office skills may also help with filing, keyboarding,
checking reports and figures, data input, stuffing envelopes,
or assembling information packets. Can you operate photocopiers,
fax machines, or computers? Do you like to file? There are
sites that can accommodate you: the Central Offices at 18 Harrison
Street in Cocoa and the south office at 683 East University
Boulevard in Melbourne.
Classroom Assistants: Come read to children. Rock toddlers.
Supervise playgrounds. Teach children songs and games. Listen
or talk to children. We have many classrooms with infants and
toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Developmental testing: Do you like working with individual
children? There are opportunities to work with children on
various developmental or health tests.
Female Mentors: Parent Connection, the Child Care Association’s
teen pregnancy program, has volunteer opportunities for women
to mentor pregnant teenagers. Each mentor is matched with a
girl in her own geographical area, and training is provided
to all volunteers. Training sessions are scheduled as volunteers
are recruited. You may call Parent Connection at 634-3551 or
634-3554 for further information.
Use your talents to help our community. If you want to help
build Brevard County’s future by working with children,
please call our Volunteer Coordinator, at 634-3500.
