Announcing Continuing Education Courses

The Child Care Association offers Continuing Education Courses on various topics that pertain to early childhood education. These courses are open to child care providers, center staff,  parents and persons interested in becoming child care professionals.  Additional parent education courses may also be found under Parent Resources above.
 

New Provider Orientation

This training session is led by the Child Care Association's MIS staff who provides technical assistance to child care providers on policies and procedures related to the reimbursement process.  This one-hour session includes assistance on how to complete attendance sheets, eligibility and care schedules.

Five-Hour Literacy Course: "Beyond ABCs and Writing My Name"

This course is designed to meet the state literacy requirement for child care providers.  Participants will gain knowledge and skills on how to increase literacy skills through daily play learning experiences. Participants will also learn how to enhance literacy skills through direct and constant interaction with books and language and help develop gross and fine motor skills.  Upon successful completion of this class, participants will receive a certificate within one week of completion.

CPR & First Aid Modules

CPR is designed for those individuals seeking training and education in Pediatric CPR and choking for children and infants.  Information on basic emergencies, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Safety in the Home/Car, Accidents, and Injuries will be covered in this session.

First Aid is for those seeking training and education in Basic First Aid for children and infants.

The State of Florida requires that at least one staff person who has a current CPR/First Aid Certificate, be on site at child care centers at all times during hours of operation. For course completion, basic training skills must be implemented and a written examination completed.

All fees will be due and collected the day of the class by the instructor. Please DO NOT forward any fee amount to the Child Care Association. 

Maximum enrollment for CPR class is limited to 15 participants. Open enrollment for First Aid class.

Duty to Warn

This course focuses on issues that have applicability to professionals in the child care environment.  In specialized group settings, the participants will explore the perceptions of how the Florida Legislature and Florida courts have dealt with duty to warn issues such as confidentiality, reporting, and harm to self and others. Guidance & Discipline

Learning to Use the Early Screening Inventory Revised (ESI-P&K) Screening Tools
