Quality Early Childhood Education Programs
Subsidized Early Childhood Education Program
This program is available through various participating centers and family child care homes. Eligibility is based on total family income and parents must be working. The program serves children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Children participate in a variety of educational activities which include indoors and outdoors play in a safe setting. Fees are assessed on a sliding fee scale. The hours of operation are determined by the child care provider.
Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program for 3 and 4 year olds. Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1 to qualify. Children participate in a variety of educational activities, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting. They also receive free medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks. Families must meet income eligibility guidelines. This program operates from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. year round. Limited "Wrap Around" services are available for working parents. Transportation within a service area may be provided.
Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a comprehensive educational program that facilitates child development, supports parental roles, and promotes self-sufficiency for pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers 6 weeks to 3 years old. Families must meet federal income eligibility guidelines.
Before & After Enrichment Program
This school-age program is designed to offer services to students enrolled in Brevard County Public Schools both before and after school in their own school setting. Each school offers a variety of enrichment activities according to the availability and interest of area and children. Nutritional snacks are provided. Fee assistance is available for eligible parents.
